A Busy March 2025

Scott Abbey | Published on 3/4/2025

Today is February 22, and here on the ridge above Discovery Bay we had quite a blow. One old cedar took out one of our “horse walk- ins.”   I guess I should  have reefed in the main sail.

Last year the Board discussed the need to develop drop in events to make up for the loss of the Clubhouse.  Yesterday’s event at Marrowstone Winery was one of them, and Jane and company did a great job. Though, some thought the Bingo caller was rigging the results.

Let’s get on to a busy March. The month opens to our own version of Mardi Gras, hosted by the Gorski’s and the Jame's.Our monthly business meeting follows with a presentation by Scott Rovanpera on his adventures sailing back to Port  from Hawaii. And this is the Club’s first Monthly Meeting Auction Scholarship Fundraiser (see PP 4 &. 5) for details.  Next up is the Scholarship Committee Fundraiser at Key City Theater on March 18, with Adventures in Circumnavigation  by Ginger and Peter Niemann. This is the Committee’s major fundraiser of the year, so please attend if you’re in town.   Rounding out the month, on March 29th, we have our Fleet Captain, Linda,  offering training for Cruise Captains and Co-Captains to simplify the process. We have too many members fearing these tasks and they’re just not that bad.

Remember, we are a Club of “Volunteers” and need everyone to participate. Let’s have a great year in spite of the Clubhouse Dilemma.

Cheers,
Commodore Scott
